Despite some of Scarlett's other beliefs, it was these specific traits and how Scarlett responded to tough situations and society expectations that my mother admired. The colors, shape, and designs within my dress were crafted to represent the strength, power, elegance, and perseverance that Scarlett displayed through out the novel. My mother named me after Scarlett O'Hara from the novel "Gone With The Wind" by Margaret Mitchell. My inspiration for my dress originated from my name. The dress that I created includes all of the eras, things and experiences that inspire me. I took inspiration from the details of their designs and included them in my dress. The plates were white and covered in blue details. For as long as I can remember, she has always displayed blue and white plates in our kitchen. Another strong inspiration I had while making my dress were my mother's plates. From the early 2000s I took inspiration from the silhouette and simplicity of their evening gowns. From the regency era, I took inspiration from their empire waistline. My dress was inspired by both the Regency era as well as the evening gowns of the early 2000s. So when I heard about Duck Tape's Stuck At Prom Scholarship Contest, I knew that I had to enter, and on my dress, there had to be a bow.

I'd make hair bows for me and my friends to wear each summer. I made several things from duck tape, like wallets, flowers, and bracelets, but my absolute favorite thing to make were bows. It was always exciting when there was a brand new duck tape pattern at the table. There were always several activities to choose from, but I would always go to the duck tape station. Growing up, I spent my summers at my school's summer camp program.
